I find the learning experiences on Katalon Academy to be very structured and practical, thanks to in-depth tutorials and hands-on exercises available that mirror real-work scenarios and align with industry standards As someone who deals with UI Automation on a daily basis, where visual components can change rapidly, the Academy's courses equip me with the skills and knowledge needed to adapt to such a dynamic environment. What is unique when learning on Katalon Academy is the community support available (on Katalon Community forum) which not only enables me to seek guidance from fellow Katalon users, but also to stay up-to-date on the latest testing trends and practices.

I have been able to gain a wide range of skills in software testing and automation. These include mastering Katalon’s test automation framework for web, mobile, and API testing, writing advanced test scripts with custom logic, and managing test data through data-driven testing. I also developed proficiency in integrating Katalon with tools like JIRA, Jenkins, and Git, and enhanced my ability to design effective test cases that meet both functional and non-functional requirements. Additionally, I gained expertise in API testing, learned Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and implemented continuous testing within CI/CD pipelines to ensure early defect detection. These skills have made me more efficient and effective in delivering high-quality software solutions.

THE TRANSFORMATION

“How did I apply what I learned in my job?”

I was given an opportunity to lead my team to adopt automation testing practices to improve our testing efficiency. Thanks to the knowledge gained via Katalon Academy, I developed a scalable framework using Katalon Studio, focusing on reusable components like custom keywords and a well-structured object repository. Afterwards, I integrated said framework into our Jenkins CI/CD pipeline, enabling continuous testing to spot early defects. Additionally, I also hosted training sessions to help my colleagues on adopting automation techniques into their work, script writing, and more. And, in the end, my efforts were paid off. We saw reduced testing time by 50%, fasster release time, and was able to reduce post-release bug by 30%. I was also promoted to become the Lead QA Engineer in my team.
